Mother's polish is the best. To speed thing up you can use the new Mother's Power Ball to do the polishing.

There are plenty of good rim washing solutions, just look at the container. Just make sure that you do not use a rough object, or any steel wool to scrub with.

You didn't say if they were factory OEM rims.If they are,they are coated with urethane clear just like the paint on the body.They are maintained by polishing with a cleaner wax like Turtle wax.

orange cleaner/wal-mart 1/qt container .mix your own strength
i use it for eng cleaning and pans my wife burns. rims with brake dust too.
