No one is trying to deny anyone privatized health care. The choice of insurance would also still be available for those who choose to have it and can afford it. What is being said is that health care should be made available for everyone. I really have a hard time understanding anyone who would actually begrudge helping their fellow man with a few dollars unconditionally for health care. I have talked to people from Canada and the UK. I've a friend in Sweden and they all say it is a good idea. Like everyone everywhere they say there are some problems but when we converse they agree that it's a good idea. Why is it most civilized countries already have a National Healthcare System? My friend in the UK says all emergency or situations that require immediate attention are looked at immediately. I really think the major objection in this country are those who don't want to give anything.

Why all of the exaggerations flying around about a national health care plan?
- there are not long waiting periods for care .... the Canadians and Brits wait no longer than we do
- taxes will go up 40 to 50 percent to pay for it .... yes our federal taxes may rise a small percentage (maybe 5 or 6%) but people over look the savings also. Right now I pay almost 20% of my income for private health insurance, that would be gone. The cost to business owners for the insurance coverage of their employees would be gone, saving businesses thousands of dollars a month
- a national health care plan would eliminate private insurance ..... it wouldn't at all. Individuals that could afford it would still be able to purchase individual health insurance, you would not be forced to use the national plan
- the government running anything is a joke ..... we already have many 'socialized' government agencies. Things like our fire, and police departments which, for the most part, are very well run, efficient departments. So it can be done.
Overall I think it is horrible that the wealthiest nation in the world, the US, treats it's people health care with such disdain and yet we spend billions and billions on war, we make billions on selling arms all across the world.
Something to think about ....... Why is socialized medical care good enough for our president, members of the House and Senate, our entire military and their families, but it's not good enough for the average American. That is really what the health care plan is for our military, our legislature, our president. They pay nothing into it, it is tax payers based. Think about it.

Dude....NOBODY has suggested SOCIALIZED HEALTH CARE! NOBODY! What's been suggested is a system of Universal health INSURANCE! Let's say it again..INSURANCE! Maybe one more time, just to make sure...INSURANCE! NOBODY has suggested that the government take over all the hospitals and put all the doctors on salary. NOBODY! UNIVERSAL HEALTH INSURANCE would cover all Americans and would INSURE that doctors and hospitals would get paid in full and on time. Better, it would mean that people would get early preventitive care so that many people would be able to head off those expensive illnessess that they can't pay for when they fall sick. As harsh as it may seem, at this point a lot of people die because they don't have INSURANCE, or the insurance industry refuses to pay up. Also, the DMV in most states tend to be underfunded so they simply don't have the facilities or people to do the job...it's a bad comparison between insurance and getting your car registered...one has nothing to do with the other!

How about hospitals as efficient as the post office, or the Parks department, or the Dept. of Transportation? Plenty of great government programs that work well.
I guess the health care companies are going a good job of getting you to swallow their propaganda so they can hold on to those billions of dollars in profit.
At least the government would WANT us to get better. The health care industry actually makes more money if you die quickly so their aren't any extensive medical bills.

Wait a minute man! We're Americans and we can make anything work. Why are you so negative? It isn't as though the market based health care system, that we have now is working very well. What's the problem? You aren't with the insurance companies are you? Or do you simply have a problem sitting in a waiting room with the scumbag Americans who wipe your hiney for you everyday?

Well put.
There is a reason many Canadians travel to the US for MRI's.
It takes weeks for them to get one there.
And for you Fidel loving Communists out there...
Why do people from the Caribbean and south america needing medical care fly PAST Cuba and recieve care in the USA? I mean, it IS closer, no?
Gee... Just maybe it sucks ( although Mickey Moore will SELL you a movie ticket to tell you otherwise)

Talk to someone in Canada about nat health care, and hear what it's like. If your kid wakes up with an ear infection, you WON'T be at the doctors office that day.Maybe in a week you will be, MAYBE a week. So you go to the ER with 100 other people with the same problem and wait for 14 hours. Yes, what a plan!

hi, I stay in England so i've got have been given some issues to assert in this subject. you're conversing approximately national healthcare platforms, suitable? Ours is the NHS (national wellness service) or maybe if human beings ***** lots, we'd be in lots worse shape without it. we'd desire to continually pay extra taxes using fact of it, in spite of the undeniable fact that it is incredibly worth it. as quickly as we'd desire to work out a doctor, it could each and every each and every so often take over a week, yet many of the time it takes a pair of days, and there is often somebody available the comparable day if it is somewhat important. Operation waiting lists are long- over a year- for issues like man made hips and knees, yet it somewhat is using the fact people who've cancer or heart issues get precedence, when you consider that they might desire to have their operations completed as quickly as achieveable so as that they do no longer die. i assume the NHS isn't entirely socialised, using fact human beings do might desire to pay for prescriptions, yet it is the only concern you pay for. it is likewise in basic terms working adults that ahve to pay- previous human beings, little ones and extremely unfavourable human beings do no longer might desire to pay, and you do no longer might desire to pay for the contraceptive pill or implant. the single concern it is a project in the NHS is that there is a lot of place of work work and the staff all get very drained and overworked, somewhat in twist of fate and emergency (like the ER in US hospitals). each and every each and every so often meaning human beings make errors. it is nonetheless incredibly uncommon that issues flow incorrect nonetheless. i don't be conscious of anybody who had something flow incorrect in scientific institution. frequently drained team are in basic terms incredibly grumpy and lose their bedside way.

That is a perfect example! if you need surgery you will die in in line! you will be on a waiting list and the guy with the hang nail would go first if he is higher on the list. I like it the way it is
If we had it Hillary's way I would likely be dead now!!!!!!
