I am using a wireless router.Linksys 300n .

We hooked it up and it's a 100ft or 50 ft cable. Checked the connection at the end and it is getting power to my computer. I tried enabling and disabling my connection to the motherboard lan line and i have a card lan line aswell. (ethernet adapters). So I tried repairing and tried unfirewalling but still no connection. The best I can get is I updated all my drivers and in the Ethernet card I have I can send packets it shows my IP address and subnet gateway but I still cant recieve. I think it is a wireless 300N the new one with 2 antennas and one wide antenna.
any thoughts?

From your writing, it appears as though you are seeing a problem with the wired connection. You can transmit (send) data but cannot receive it.

You have done the obvious hardware and driver checks.

However, you did not discuss the wiring itself. Did you run the wires and terminate them or did you use a prepared straight CAT5 cable that was already terminated? My initial guess is that the cable may not be properly terminated.

Move the pc close to the router and plug in a commercially prepared straight CAT5 cable. If this works, then the cable you have run and presumably terminated has termination errors.

I suggest you then check the terminations on the cable. If you are unsure how this is done, see the source below.

while you're useful which you have not replaced something your self, then only attempt slicing the flexibility on your router for 20 seconds or so ( Pull the plug from the flexibility grant ). this could sound stupid.....yet you would be surprised at how frequently this could therapy an internet connection problem...
