Reboot in Safe mode (press F8 before Windows startup, choose Safe mode from the menu), set the resolution to appropriate, restart normally.

Try pushing the windows key or if you don't have one hold Ctrl and push escape so it pops up. You may have accidentally moved the tool bar to one side or the other or hidden it. You can drag it back if on the sides or top or use the Control Panel to recover it.

I think
The explorer.exe file is gone or it is not running in startup..
Try this..
press Alt+Ctrl+Del so the task manager will open..
in Applications >> newTask >> type explorer.exe and run...
If the problem is minor then your desktop will come...
or You need to install/reinstall the windows on more time...
