Timed medicines come in various forms. One is slow release pills, and the other delayed release. Slow release ones are layered to dissolved at different speeds. Delayed release ones are coated so that they dissolve, say, not in the mouth but in the stomach, or not in the stomach but in the intestines (for those medicines that could mess up your stomach).
