PC is more reliable and flexible. I've used both, I'm a graphic designer, and I used to swear by the Macs until I realized I was mostly swearing AT them when they crashed and lost my work. Now I use a PC and really don't worry about crashes much.

This really depends on what you're using it for. You should try and try one out and get used to the Mac applications. I have a PC at home but a Mac in my office (I am a teacher). Macbooks are compatible with MS word, by the way. Mac is very good about integrating many of the PC applications that people around the world use already. I would suggest going to the store and trying them out. They will be more than happy to allow you to do that.

Hope this helps.
