Hmm.... if it won't even start with starting fluid, could be something bigger. Sounds like you have checked all the obvious things - assuming the battery is good but if it is weak it could cause probelms. You changed out the fuel didn't you? Old gas won't cut it. Squirt that starting fluid directly into the cylinders through the spark plug hole just to rule out a carb or fuel issue. If it has been sitting that long, it could possibly a stuck valve, but that is kind of a long shot.

It's probably because you didn't clean the carbs properly.
Remove the float bowls and remove the pilot jets (long and thin).
Hold them up to the light.
You should be able to see through them.
With carb cleaner in a spray can, spray through every hole in the carb - it the spray comes out a different hole, that circuit is probably clean.
Check the air cleaner - sometimes small animals like to build nests inside of the air box and clog everything up.
If the bike has been sitting for a couple of years, the battery probably needs to be replaced - just charging a dead battery, it won't have enough amps to turn the starter motor and fire the coil at the same time.

Have you checked the electrical components of the ignition system, like the battery, starter relay, ignitor, and starter switch?

The last couple of times my EX500 didn't start it has been a low charge on the battery, and once it was a corroded starter switch.

Good luck!

You have a carb issue. How did you clean the carbs?? It has to be done right and put together right in order to work. If you didn't take the carburator apart COMPLETELY, your "carb clean" didn't work.
