It varies based on the complexity of the will. Also, be mindful that there is no standard county-wide fee schedule for attorneys' services. That was deemed to be an anti-trust "price fixing" arrangement over 30 years ago. The price varies from one attorney to another. Often rural attorneys will charge less than attorneys in large city law firms.

Several responders suggested will kits or online legal document services. I also do not recommend writing your own. Each state has its own Wills Act, and often the requirements for writing and executing a will would vary from one state to another.

If you want to see an example of a form of simple will that is valid in Pennsylvania, there is one available on the website of attorney Daniel Evans of Philadelphia. Click here: http://evans-legal.com/dan/willexample.html

If you want a living will (advance health care directive), the Pennsylvania Department of Health has a sample form on its website: http://www.dsf.health.state.pa.us/health/lib/health/publicnotices/Sample_Forms_for_Advance_Directives.doc

Totally depends on where you go. If you do it online at a site like legalzoom.com or legacywriter.com can be as little as $30. Going to an attorney will probably be closer to $100.

If you would like to talk with an attorney about this you can review this website for our member services, a will is part of the membership at no additional cost.

My wife and I did our own living will. You can find many web sites that explain how to do this. We bought a kit, there are many out there and they are not expensive.

Google or Ask.com the question: How do I make a will or how do I make a living will.

You'll be on your way.

I do not support using kits to draft your own will and testament -- they're not thorough, probate law, and tax regulations are extremely complex -- it's important to have somebody who knows what they're doing.
