I found my dad when I was 14 by myself. All you can do is step back and let your kids tell you if they want to know him. Just because he's their biological father, he doesn't have an automatic right to their love and respect. If they want your help, then try the Salvation Army Tracing service.

make sure u sit and talk to ur kids 1st about it, let them decide if they want find their dad, and if they dont, leave it be as it be his lose not theirs... if they want find him, then u need look else where, try find him on the net, by directry inquries, just hope he has a phone, and if not other sites if u google will help u along the way also... but also, let ur kids know that if they do chooce to find him, dont expect much esp if he left them in 2001 and couldnt be bothered keep in touch, he could still be the same man he is today that he was back then.. all the best with this

If your children's father left in 2001, then these children were still minors and he should have been paying you child support.
If he was paying child support, you can try and go through the records on where the money was coming from.
If he hasn't ever paid you child support, then you might be able to go to Family Court and file for child support as your one child is a minor yet AND you may or should get back child support payments.
IF you have his social security number, then any of the pay services to find someone will help you locate him. If you are in the USA, try http://www.ussearch.com/consumer/index.jsp.

Find out if your kids would want to see their father before starting this. If he was insensitive enough to dump them in 2001 when they were growing up, what makes you think he would make great father material now.
They are also old enough to look for him themselves as well, so if they wanted to, maybe you could do it together. It's their decision and you need to speak to them first.

If ur kids or ok with not finding out anything abt him then leave it as it could bring up more pain than any good out of it.
Also they're old enough speak to them openly abt it and if one of them wants to or whatever then help them.
Good luck

The're both old enough to do it themselves if they want to. Talk to them about it in a casual way and if they want to find him offer your assistance if not leave well alone.

Do they want to see him? If they do, tell some of his family members that they want to see him.
