it can be sanded out and polished but then the counter top is going to be distorted i use 100 grit sand paper to get the burn down then increase grit to 400 if a Matte finish and jewelers polish for a Little shine

You may try to sand it down and then polish off with fine grit sandpaper. This will work ONLY if you have a very slight burn.

However, you may find it necessary to replace the unit. Cultured marble is not real marble; it is colored mineral bound with an acrylic binder. The binder burns and this is the problem.

sorry but you cant. Cultured marble is an acrylic material that resembles real marble, and if you get a burn mark on it its permanent.
