I want to erase references to my name from the internet. I'm not talking about my internet history on my computer. I'm talking about the new people search engines that are appearing and scrapping together information about me. How can I remove references to me from the net. does anyone know of any companies that specialize in this sort of work?

The people search sites get data from records like where you've paid utility bills, where your credit card bills are sent, etc.

The most realistic thing you can do yourself to combat this is:
1. Get a cellphone number you have no intention of using.
2. Get a postal mailbox.
3. Register all your bills and utilities etc to be delivered to the PO box and use the cellphone number as a phone contact.
4. Move home so your old physical address that already shows up on these records is invalid.

Obviously, it's going to be an expensive and inconvenient process to do yourself. If you find a good company to help with this, let me know.

Well, if there are references to you at websites, you can contact those webmasters and request removal, but as to data on you... that's difficult and there are many companies digging and trying to find all the information they can on all of us in order to sell it.

You have a long uphill battle.
You should start by requesting your senator and congressman start a bill giving the public the right to request removal of information from these companies.
