Do you think that the world respects Iran?
Although President Bush says that US respects Iran and its rich culture but as an Iranian I have this feeling that the whole world has no respect for Iran and Iranians!
People mostly generalize us with the politicians in Iran who are sponsoring terrorism,
Sometimes having conversations with people in Canada I get this feeling that they even kind of see me (ordinary people) responsible for the evil things my government is doing back there!
In fact we don’t get any respect because we have evil politicians,
Am I wrong on that? Let me know what you think?
Thank you!

You are suffering from the same thing that many of us Americans are subjected to also.

Many people in the world judge all Americans as being of the same mind as a few bad ones and show the same disrespect by not judging the individual by his/her own merits.

I think it was Socrates who said "Most people get the government they deserve." I think it's true in the long term.

So, Iran is a country with a rich culture worthy of respect, but the world has kind of been waiting to see how long the Iranian people will tolerate being ruled by lunatics since 1978.

How long should we wait before we decide that the Iranian government reflects who the Iranian people of today really are?

I don't mind Iranians but I don't like Muslim religion/behaviour especially from the over zealous. People saying "they're not muslim they don't count," the behaviour of men towards women or airing their superiority because they're muslim bothers me.

If a Western girl went to Iran and wore a short skirt with a tank top they'd be arrested yet we don't comment when women were a burqa or the headscarf. Yet they still will scream that we do not respect them. I don't comprehend why this is done.

I believe that the world thinks that Iranians don't respect them.

You are correct - the world does not respect the Iranian GOVERNMENT, as far as the Iranian people, I feel sorry for the women and children living such incredibly strange, cruel, inferior and degrading lives. For most Americans, we simply cannot understand the lifestyle and beliefs. Uncover your women, allow them all the freedom and opportunities as any man is given (simply because he was born a male) have women in government office, let them make decisions and then see how the world welcomes Iran with open arms and RESPECT.

The world respects only survival.

Only an individual can respect a country.

I think Iran is disgusting.

If you want the world to see true Iran and it's people, instead of a repressive, secretive Gov't...Then get rid of it.....

Currently, there is a stoning-to-death sentence on Zhila and Bakhtiyar Izadi from Iran. There is a Campaign going on to save them on this website: http://www.zhilaa.com/

Note: The stoning videos on this page were copied by permission from the website of Iran-e-Azad, an organization which fights for Freedom and Human Rights in Iran. Their website link is here.

We want everone to watch this video and know the truth about this "peaceful" religion of Islam which is a danger to humanity and human rights. If you have a website or a blog, you are most welcome to link to the video:
http://www.apostatesofislam.com/media/video/stoning_video_100kbps.wmv

Are people in this video extremists? No, they are true Muslims, following the exact orders of their leader Mohammed. This is real Islam in practice. If you are a Muslim and believe stoning is not a part of Islam: Congratulations! You have already partially apostated from Islam. Now you just need to complete your apostasy like we did, and stop believing that Mohammed was a prophet of God. Join our discussion forum to ask for help on how you can leave Islam.

But there is hope...Iran was "westernized" along time ago and the natives are getting restless....

As an ancient historian, I have always respected the civilization and people that gave us the worlds first taste of religious freedom and representative government among equal states (the satrap system).
But that all was exterminated by the invading Muslim Arabs, along with the remnants of other ancient civilizations (Egypt) Syria, Roman, and Greek) many centuries ago.
Today, the Ayatollas, Imams, and their fanatical Shitie followers are bent on Genocide (Israel) enslavement of women, and nuclear world war with the west in the name of their God.
What more is to be said of these animals?

I respect Iran and President Amadenijad more than my own president.

I've learned, years ago, that we should never judge a book by it's cover.

The leaders are merely representatives of their countries and even though many of the world's leaders don't deserve respect, that country's people do.

Don't urinate on my leg and tell me it's raining, believe in God, and raise your chidren properly, and I'll always respect you.
