I would have respected him if he would have said the following:

" My fellow Americans, I am going to do my very best to ensure that this tragedy does not happen again. Therefore I am going to instruct the NTSB to provide me with detailed report on all deficiencies on transport infrastructure so we can start refurbishing and rebuilding them, likewise ensuring the safety and trust to all".

See neandercons! its not that difficult to say such an intelligent thing like that! simple ay?

All we can really expect from Bush are his prayers. And, at least in Iraq and New Orleans, it seems God doesn't listen to him. Congress appropriated 250 million for the bridge reconstruction. I believe there will be more action to inspect and reconstruct all the unsafe US bridges. But the directives and the money will come from the US Congress and the states, not from this anti-government and incompetent president.

George W is the "What. me worry?" president. And what he has to say is usually kind of irrelevant (as a lame duck)'
I think one of the most useless 'duties' of a president is visiting disaster sites. I mean, can he pick up a shovel and start working on a broken levee? Of course not.
But the way the old media and the dumbocrats cries and squeeled about his not visiting an infested hole like 'Narleens after the hurricane, he's especially obliged to waste some more time at the bridge.
Its all so stupid.

I haven't been impressed with much of anything GWB has done so far. All he does if find ways to spend money.

He didn't need to go look at the bridge. Just throwing away more tax $$$'s

He could have seen all he needed to see through his news agency, Fox News.

you damn RIGHT i am satisfied with Bush
i agree with the first answer

what did you want him to say
what could he have said that would actually make things better
did he blame anyone for what happened
spending has increased each year

you have dead people because a bridge fell
now the senator wants to blame bush for this and you want to critique his speech,,
IGNORANCE is the only answer I can think of,,not on Bush's part ,,but on the people spending the money
I am so damn sick and tired of the stupid democrats , there is no way to get to some of them,, just look at the answers,,go to the link and see who spends the money and how,,,
get a life people,,,bush ,,as good as he is ,,,can not be everywhere at all times,,,

No matter how much good President Bush does for people, the liberals will crap on him.
The media is so bias they don't want to show him doing anything good, so that's why your not seeing the whole story.

Bush could have laid hands on the dead and brought them back to life and you commucrats would still not be satisfied. Maybe if we bring Bill and Monica out to look over the disaster you will be happy. They can give us an X-rated show if she feels like it, cause we know he does.

Oh, be honest...There is nothing on this green earth that Bush could say or do that would make you respect him...or anyone else that doesn't march lock-step with your ideologies. Bigots don't tend to respect anyone except, perhaps, other bigots.

His words mean nothing, it's his future actions which will show if he's serious or full of it.

Yes .
Your right , he cannot speak eloquently . Big deal .
Bill Clinton , the master of speaking eloquently , took no action on Bin Laden nor Al Queda . Even if you believe his publicity stunt bombing of the desert was a real effort , there is no doubt he did not take proper action . So. . . . was he better because of his speaking ability ?
Or , is it better that President Bush has taken action , real action , undisputable action , heavy action , and a whole lot of it .
