My favorite way of cleaning a computer screen is computer/electronic wipes. You can get a tub of them at Wal-Mart for about $5 or so. But, if you don't want to spend the money on those, another good way is to take a soft cloth (like the kind you'de clean eyeglasses with), put a small amount of water on it, and then wipe your screen down.
Also, just a friendly warning: do not use Windex, or any other kind of cleaner that has a high alcohol content.
:)

I actually had the same question a few days ago and I did some research on-line. You can use a damp towel and a dry towel, but that may not be the most effective. There is a kit you can use that will clean your entire notebook. I found it at the link below. My friend said they used a product similar to this one and it works great!

Try normal window cleaner - But do it on a small corner of the screen first - Rub it off like you would a normal mirror!, Once happy that it dones not eat the plastic (And normally doen't anyway) - Don't leave the screen wet - rub it off as soon as you can. - Reasonable time anyhow!

I just get a bucket of water & detergent and dip only my screen in da bucket and then I leave it triangle shaped in da dish rack to dry but afta I wipe off just da screen first just so there is no dust and finger prints on da screen. Most people dont believe me when I tell dem but it dat is what I do.

Microfiber cloth (used for glasses) and deionized water is best.
Anything other than Microfiber might leave scratches and the water won't mess with your system if a little leaks into the keyboard!
WOW, DONT USE WINDEX, -edit-

I use Windex. Spray it on a old cloth towel, not paper, and wipe the screen. Works quite well.

They make wet wipes specifically for electronics, those are the best thing for LCD's that I have ever used. Otherwise a lightly (LIGHTLY) dampened paper towel will work. Notice I said dampened not wet.
