You shouldn't be suprised.
These sites for Music, and the likes are the largest generator of Malware, Trojans, and Viruses.
You will need the disc to recover the Operating System, there are no free downloads.

first you need to make sure limewire is completely removed from the pc
Go to Start > Search > All Files or Folders.
In the "All or part of the the file name" section, type in "Limewire" file name(s).
To get better results, select "Look in: Local Hard Drives" or "Look in: My Computer" and then click "Search" button.
When Windows finishes your search, hover over the "In Folder" of "Limewire", highlight the file and copy/paste the path into the address bar. Save the file's path on your clipboard because you'll need the file path to delete Limewire in the following manual removal steps.
To open the Registry Editor, go to Start > Run > type regedit and then press the "OK" button.
Locate and delete the entry or entries whose data value (in the rightmost column) is the spyware file(s) detected earlier.
To delete "Limewire" value, right-click on it and select the "Delete" option.
Locate and delete "Limewire" registry entries:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER softwaremicrosoftinternet explorermenuextlimeshop preferences HKEY_USERSs-1-5-21-725345543-1078145449-1343024091-500softwaremicrosoftwindowscurrentversionexplorermenuorderstart menuprogramslimewire HKEY_CURRENT_USERsoftwaremicrosoftinternetexplorermenuextlimeshoppreferencesHKEY_USERSs-1-5-21-725345543-1078145449-1343024091-500softwaremicrosoftwindowscurrentversionexplorermenuorderstartmenuprogramslimewire
once thats removed, empty the recycle bin (files deleted should go there), and do a anti-virus scan
after the scan is complete and its all clean than you will need to check internet connection etc... see if it works
you may need to reinstall the software, depends on what virus you had from limewire.

I had Limewire before but I got rid of it coz of the problems thats casuing my computer to crash. If you still have ur start-up cds, i suggest u re-install ur pc from scratch.then u can install all ur other programs and broadband software from there. i did try deleting just the limewire, but this did not solve it, as there are other files that are shared by limewire and some other programs.

This is no help to you now but I've been telling people for a long time now that these programs that allow free downloads of copyrighted material such as music or movies will come back to bite them at some point.
I have fixed a dozen computers of people who didn't want to pay for their music and in the end it cost them money to fix the computer and they lost a lot of personal files and photographs - and money couldn't replace them.
At 79p / 99c per track, Apple's iTunes offers value for money and they have special offers where you can download certain albums for less than the price of the combined individual tracks.
Of those twelve computers I fixed, one client ignored me three times and continued to use Limewire amongst others...

try downloading "FIREFOX" web browser, its free. (maybe at a library with basic cd burners). It performs better than Internet Explorer, and just may help your problem at least. I would go to a tech type forum, become a member, and post your problem as well.
