"His"?I think you meant to write "her",yes?Mind you Hephaestus might have been bi,I mean it's not out of the question, right.Aphrodite's most cherished lover was definitely Adonis. When he was killed she was devastated. She run barefoot through a field and her feet bled and blood-red anemones sprung from the ground. It's such a beautiful myth and a beautiful image too.

Aphrodite was very upset when Adonis was killed. She found him as a baby and even then desired him, giving him to Persephone to bring up. She then fought tooth and nail with Persephone to get him back, as Persephone had also fallen in love with him. In the end they both had to share him. I think this is the most effort Aphrodite ever went to in order to be with someone, so that might indicate that she loved him most.

She had a lot of very racy love meetings with Ares, adn he was one of her most constant lovers. But you don't get the same feeling of passion as with the Adonis story.

Aphrodite, being the lover, had affairs with many, many people, and mostly she didn't see it as a big thing. Her worldview was that if it gave her pleasure and others pleasure as well, where was the harm.

She did love her husband Hephaestus, but hated that he was ugly, and certainly hated that he tried to restrict her affairs, as she saw love as something open and free and pure and lighthearted.

I think she was supposed to be married to Ares in a particular mythologic story and cheated on Ares with Adonis.

I think that the inner relationships of the gods may be a trifle more complicated than you may first perceive.

Don't use other people's ideals as your own unless you're aware of the fact your doing it - that's like plagiarism but stupider.
