I am sure I have no idea what this has to do with my question... and borders on abuse of system here in that it does not answer my question even though you bring up an eye-popping subject matter - perhaps you could use your own research to create a question for it rather than add your views which do not relate to my question.. I'm sure you will have a lot of responses.. or maybe, you didn't get ANY responses so you are adding your point into other questions no matter what the question might be.. hmm like I said, IF that is the case, it borders on abuse of the system... and ppl could mark you up for that mate.. I'm a fair person so I'll leave it to the community here..

I agree, disgusting. But, the woman with the sore thumb sued through the courts. Our troops do not have that right.
I agree that it is correct that our troops should not be able to sue to government/armed forces/ministy of defence (if they did, you would get silly cases) but those men and women who serve to fight for the UK, and in this case, fought to help another country on behalf of the UK should get a decent award for the injuries they suffered.
It is not bad enough that the RAF woman got too much, but worse that the (now ex-) soldier got way too little.

That soldier should also get a lifetime of benefits. He should get housing, health care, mental help....anything he needs, as well as a hefty check at the beginning of each month.
How nice for the military to have their soldiers sign a statement that they will not sue for injuries. This is just one of the ways our military people get raped by the system.
They serve, they give their lives and their limbs. They are forever unable to live normal lives when they return home. Plus, they will spend much of their time battling bureaucracy to get the meager benefits promised them. In the meantime, in a civilian court, a thumb is worth more than a soldier's heroism.
After World War II, Veteran's Benefits included very low mortgages for home purchases, as well as educational benefits. My husband went to college on the G.I. Bill and we bought our first home with 4% interest.
Today, I am sure these heroic men and women get a slap on the back and the privilege of fighting red tape for everything they need.
It isn't right. It shouldn't be, but unfortunately, big bureaucracy doesn't seem to care.

Seeing how that British Military personel sign a form stating they will not sue for compensation, for injuries then they have no choice to take whats given.
As the RAF secretary was a civilian she can sue away and you see the difference!!
Crazy but true!!Look at the way the British War Office as been discriminating its Gurka veterans by giving them smaller pensions than their British counter-parts.
Recently a WW2 Gurka Veteran, a winner of the VC, who wanted to visit GB for medical treatment was intially refused on the grounds he had not shown a true enough "connection" to the UK!! Public outcry made the Imagration department backdown and allow him to visit.

Who makes these decisions?! Something is seriously wrong with this system ...Is there no recourse for changing it? Can this solder's claim be appealed through any channels? Is it irreversible? How did the typist hurt thumb? Is it a permanent
injury? What measuring stick could they have used to decide this travesty?

Plundered Body Parts Used In 1,000s Of Patients
Macabre scandal may involve more tainted transplants than earlier feared
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/11828651/
A macabre scandal in which corpses were plundered for body parts could be even bigger than previously disclosed, with one company alone saying it has distributed thousands of pieces of human tissue that authorities fear could be tainted with disease.
In addition, three other companies have reported quarantining or destroying more than $5 million in tissue from Biomedical Tissue Services — the now-defunct New Jersey supply house at the center of the scandal.
While the exact number of pieces distributed and used in operations has not been revealed, hospitals in recent weeks have spoken of contacting hundreds of patients who may have received tainted tissue.
BTS has been accused of collecting body parts without donor consent and selling them for use in transplants performed at hospitals and other medical facilities across the country. The owner of BTS and three others were charged in a scheme that earned them millions of dollars. All four have pleaded not guilty.
BTS supplied bone, skin, and tendons to various processors, who in turn provided them to distributors. Those companies are not accused of any wrongdoing.
Minneapolis-based distributor Medtronic Inc. reported that at least 8,000 pieces that came from BTS were implanted, and others are being recalled, according to documents filed January in a federal lawsuit in Ohio.
The number was revealed in a question-and-answer form the company sent to surgeons around the country in November 2005 shortly after it was notified that the tissue had dubious origins.
“We’ve been as transparent as possible”, Medtronic spokesman Bert Kelly said. “We felt like we had to be as open as possible. This is about patient safety for us.”
The Food and Drug Administration is concerned those parts could be infected with the AIDS virus, syphilis and hepatitis, but has said the risk of infection is small.
The FDA will not say whether any patients have ailments that might be linked with suspect tissue. The FDA has also refused to reveal how many people received BTS tissue.
“At this time the agency is not releasing any specifics of that investigation in order to preserve the integrity of that investigation”, FDA spokesman Stephen King wrote in an e-mail.
Medtronic said it acquired more than 13,000 pieces of BTS tissue from one tissue processor, Regeneration Technologies Inc.; of that number, 8,000 were implanted.
In Securities and Exchange Commission filings, Regeneration and two other companies that process parts — LifeCell Corp. and Tutogen Medical Inc. — reported quarantining or destroying more than $5 million in BTS tissue.
David Wade, chief executive of another tissue processor, Lost Mountain Tissue Bank, said it processed several thousand pieces obtained via BTS, but only a few hundred were distributed, and only 20 pieces or so were transplanted into people.

Chinese army 'harvesting body parts'
http://www.news.com.au/story/0,23599,21152231-1702,00.html
CHINA'S military is harvesting organs from unwilling live prison inmates, mostly Falungong practitioners, for transplants on a large scale - including to foreign recipients- according to a study.
The report's authors - Canada's former secretary of state for the Asia Pacific region David Kilgour and human rights lawyer David Matas - implicated dozens of hospitals and jails throughout China in July, after a two-month investigation.

You must rid the proletariat of these bourgeoisie tendancies.
