so i'm pretty much confused. if all these padres fans in san diego are such barry haters, then why did the whole stadium go crazy for bonds when he hit the homerun. i mean...can we freaking make up our minds? why the hell would you boo the guy and then all of a sudden go nuts when he hits the homer?

If you watched the post-game report, quite a few fans in attendance actually congratulated him for his success, so you can hardly say that everyone there was Barry hater.

I think like everyone else in the world, people can appreciate the playing abilities of Barry Bonds, but they dislike what he has done to get it, and the fact that he has never been punished for using steroids. He's also not the most friendliest guy in the MLB, as history has shown. So I think it's perfectly natural to cheer his achievements and boo him for his actions and behavior.

Quite frankly, you probably have gotten the same exact reaction in any other city in the world except perhaps San Francisco (where he would be cheered all around) and perhaps in New York. (their fans are fairly vicious)

Two things, I expect.

One, Bonds put on a show, and without bloodshed. Folks appreciate being entertained.

Two, the hater faction is loud (well, "noisy" is more accurate) and angry and toxic, but far overrates its numbers and importance, probably because it has allies in the sports media. And a lot of them are merely full of hot air. They just want to scribble their life's bitter graffitti and hope that it lasts, knowing deep down that it will not.

It's because ppl have waited 2 see if this record would be even tied for 33 years. Now that it is, ppl r excited that they witnessed history. If u witnessed this, u would probably stand up and cheer, not for the guy, but for the record.

Actually if you listen again t first there were cheers, then the boo's started taking over and drowning the cheers out.

Well its because they have witnessed history. Its weird but they boo him cause they dont like him, but they are happy they were there to see history.
