Well, he was demoted five places down the grid- I think that's fair enough. Obviously what he did to Lewis wasn't right but anyway, at least Lewis is now 'feeling the heat' from Alonso and hopefully McLaren can stop their double standards and get on with the races.

As for Alonso's supposedly lame excuse, I think he might've been making it up to cover up the real reason. He's desperate to clinch the championship title and to save his face because if Lewis beats him at that, it just shows what an amazing rookie Lewis is to be able to beat a two-time world champion like Alonso.

Alonso cheated yes, schumi got put back to the back of the grid in Monaco last year for something similar.
but someone somewhere wants Lewis to win years championship and will do everything in their power to help him and people may not agree with me about this ,but f1 is all about how much money Bernie can make, and without schumi to make Bernie richer he needs new blood. and Lewis is bringing in more viewers because he is the new kid on the block .
Its all about money and is no longer a sport as such!

being put into 6th on the grid was enough, but the officials have taken it too far by taking mclarens points off of them, both drivers impeded each other somewhere in qualifying yesterday. the punishment should come from the team to the drivers. the FIA have gone mad with thier punishments next they will be sitting teams in the corner and making them wear dunces hats.

He's Jealous of Lewis Hamilton so wanted to beat him. The circuit is very difficult to overtake on so Pole Position would make all the difference.

Alonso has himself to blame. Regardless of what FIA or Bernie wants, you cannot park your car to hinder other drivers, and whats more, Alonso is doing it against his very own team mate.

He's very lucky to be demoted only 5 places. He should have been sent to the very back end of the grid

IF, what we saw was the case, ie by sitting there stopped Hamilton obtaining pole position, then the bloke should be sacked. He has brought the sport into disrepute and in effect declared himself to be bigger than the team he drives for.

They should put him somewhere outside of the points where it will be hard for him to race back into a points position at the finish. Starting where he has been put, he will be able to keep pretty close in the points standings, and that is unfair.

no he shouldn't. being put back on the grid is punishment enough. the FIA should not have stopped McLaren getting constructors points though, after all it never happened to Ferrari when Schumacher go up to his shenanigans did it

a 5 place penalty is somewhat fair.

I do belive though Alonso is just asking to get kicked out of McLaren if he pulls another stunt like that.

alonso should be the one that is prevented from scoring points, not team mclaren alone. in fact, a 5-place deduction is a very light punishment.
