Europeans say Americans worship the flag because we have American flags waving at a gas station or a mall. Don't you ever notice how often Mexican flags are platstered ALL OVER THE PLACE in hispanic neighborhoods? They even get it tattooed on their buttocks.

Our flag is a symbol of our freedom, determination and pride. It is a patriotic symbol that represents our way of life. We fought to be able to have the right to display our flag for the citizens of our country. We do not worship it as we would the Bible or other religious text and/or beings. We just have the utmost respect for it and are unified under it for democracy. If you notice, some of the greatest historical events in our country are symbolized with the raising of the flag. For instance, Iwo Jima and 9/11 events were memorialized with the raising of the Stars and Stripes. It is a sign that Americans will prevail and sustain no matter the odds whether it be foreign warfare, domestic turmoil or natural disasters. Americans are proud of our flag and whenever we celebrate it, you will rarely see a dry American eye in the crowd.

Every country in a government has one flag. It is not only the American flag. but not being worship. It is for honoring and respecting ones flag. Why ? Don't you honor and respect your flag in your country? If not advise your government to enact a law that the flag should be respected because that is a symbol of your country.
Have you not gone to the school and studied about flags of one country?Or were you absent when it was taught by your teacher, my boy. Next time be present always in your class. OK

Not sure worship is the right word...but I think its Patriotic...If I was to do the same to the Union flag in UK I would be called a racist no doubt, and be labelled with the BNP...America is one country unlike UK which at times seems to be like the United or rather Ununited nations.

We don't worship the flag, that implies we think it divine. A better question would be why do you feel the need to capitalize the first letter of every word?

we don't worship it. we just respect what it stands for. it's a symbol of the freedoms that all americans enjoy and all the people who have fought and died under that flag to protect those rights. in short it's not worship it's just patriotism.

Many countries revere and celebrate their flag.
In the UK however, we've had our flag hijacked by groups of stinking racists like the BNP. The Image of the union flag's been destroyed and turned into a racist symbol which brings us to the more pertinent issue. It's not that Americans are over-patriotic (not everyone of them anyway) it's that we can't be seen as patriotic anymore.
Stinks doesn't it?

they don't worship their flag as you put it, they worship what that flag stands for, freedom!
burning of a flag is not meant to depict the destroying of the actual flag, it is meant as protest of what the flag represents
