Because if I catch the next person who tries to break into my car im going to run out with a baseball bat. My first car was broken into they took the stereo in it. Then about three months later (the same car) someone else stole it and totaled it. And now the new car someone messed up the lock as if they tried to break in. And now I just constantly look out the window with a bat in reach.....(I don't live in a bad neighborhood, and no other car on my street has been messed with)

No. Pretty much can only fight back if your own health or safty is in danger. As in someone breaking into your own house and you fear for your or your family's life. Not for property sake. So get an alarm and call the real cops to handle it if it happens again.

No, not legally. But the type of people who do these kind of things, often are gang members, or could be recognized by a former victim, and some one "might retaliate" when they're breaking in to your car. I wouldn't know who did such a thing if I "seen" some one laying next to my car that looked beat up, I would just call the cops and "explain" what happen. Who knows, the guy could have been the victim of a "drive-by shooting" as he was breaking in your car.

Out here in the country, we just take care of things our self's, and if we feel that our life's are in any danger, we shoot first and call the sheriff later

Not a lawyer, but I would say no, and as far as your bat, do you have experience with beating up professional criminals? If not it might not be as easy as you think, maybe they pull out out a gun or take your bat, beat you up and cripple you for life. And I mean what are you gonna do sit at your window 24/7? You should get an alarm system, and you should save on car insurance.
Talk to your local police dept., it is odd if you are being singled out. Maybe someone you know is doing this?

Doing that would be insanity. You do really need an alarm system and an insurance. Next time probably they'll take the car away, I say you're lucky. Proffesional criminals will only point a gun at you and off goes your baseball bat.
