Hi,

4x + 20
----------- factors into
x² - 25

4(x + 5)
-----------------
(x - 5)(x + 5)

The (x + 5) factor cancels out, leaving:

4
------
x - 5

Solve, in lowest terms:

(4x + 20)/(x^2 - 25)

Since the denominator,

(x^2 - 25) = (x + 5)(x - 5)

We have ,

(4x + 20)/[(x + 5)(x - 5)

= 4(x + 5)/[x + 5)(x - 5)]

= 4/(x - 5)

The solution is 4 / x-5

Here is how......

4x + 20 / x^2 - 25
= 4(x + 5) / (x+5)(x-5) [Difference of two Squares!]
= 4 / x - 5 [Cancelling out (x + 5)

so 4x+20/x^2-25 = 4(x+5)/(x+5) (x-5)
