Hip Hop was derived from many different musical genres.

You're quite right though, the first Hip Hop started to form from DJ's cutting up popular Disco & Funk songs in the 70's. Then people started rapping over the beats. As it got more popular, the DJ's started sampling rock & soul songs along with disco & funk. It even has roots in punk music - the Beastie Boys were originally a punk rock band.

It's hard to argue that rap wasn't formed by rock in some way though. Every other song has hooks and even lyrics lifted from rock songs. Thanks to P Diddy and others, real music is being used as a backdrop for bad music. Don't get me wrong....I like 80s and early 90s rap...the rappers then actually had talent and innovation. Today it's all about ripping off classic rock songs, talking out hoes, bling and other culturally important things.

The reason why so many ppl think that rap is a descendant of rock is the fact that so many early rappers used rock songs as inspiration and 'borrowed' the drum beats for their songs. I honestly don't like rap 'conversions' of rock songs, not that I dislike rap, simply that most of the rappers don't do them justice and lack the emotion or soul that was put into the original peice. The only rap cover of a rock song that I like is that one remix of Every Breath You Take they did for Biggie. PLZ be more original with your works, and stop hacking classic rock tunes to peices.

i does no longer spin off any track. i could arise with something unique that doesn't comprise something from yet another artist. no longer in basic terms is it disrespectful, whether you do ask, it is likewise unoriginal and monotonous to hearken to the precise comparable concern back and back.
