Taliban is basically a religious group Al Queda is a military group. They link through membership so to speak. You ( well not you) can be member of both. Like you can be republican and member of the NRA.

Taliban is a militia(a private army) which wants to establish it's rule in the afghanistan and then through out world But al qaeda is a terrorist group which is doing jehad against the western world But ideology of both the organization is same that is why they help each other and are very close to each other But the ultimate aim of both the islamic terrorist groups is same destroy the non muslims,rape their women This is the aim of islam

They believe in the same form of Islam, a militant version where infidels are to be killed in order to create world wide kalifat.
Also, the Taleban gave the leaders of Al Qaedashelter both before and after the 9/11 attacks.
When President Clinton went after Osama bin Laden, it happened in the Taleban controlled Afghanistan where Al Qaeda had most of their training camps.

there are a lot of links, but main link is that they harbored al qaida when they were in power.
many of them are dual citizen per say of both organizations.
