I love rap, but rap these days sucks! now all you have to do to become a big rap star is come up with a stupid catchphrase put it on a decent beat and your a millionaire. What ever happened to rappers like run dmc, n.w.a, snoop doggy dogg ( the old school one), cypress hill?????? now you get dumb rappers like t-pain and akon! uhhhhhh :(

Exactly man what happened? Rap became a business, and thats what it is now, a way to get paid, and to get paid nowadays you gotta sound like akon, t-pain and those guys. I hope it changes and changes soon! But the good thing is you still have N.W.A, Snoop, Dre, 2pac, Cypress.. there songs wont go anywhere so chill relax and like it says on the Chronic play it at High Volume, preferably in a residential area!!!

listen everyone, Rap is not dead. It's just the crap on the radio is making it harder to find. Good music used to be readily available everywhere. Now its harder. Corporate Rap sucks. Listening to 6-7 producers every hour is turning me off radio and on the the 'underground' scene. There are great artist, doing great things, but it's ALL on the local level. You should check out the local scene and demand the local station play local acts. It would improve what you listen to!!

the same old story :
Make money money
Make make money money!!
You are lucky in the USA because in this big contry you have rap for everybody and every mood (mainstream, commercial, hardcore, conscient rap, east coast & west coast ...)!!
Here in France, today local "artists" are just able to copycat your worst nightmares (50 cent & G unit, Vanilla Ice, Lil Wayne ...)!!
Keep the faith, you still have Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Little Brother, Gangstarr, Rakim, The Alchemist and more of outstanding MC's & Producers ...

I know I know....at first i thought "Hip Hop aint dead, it lves in the souf" but then now the south is the main culprit, not to diss on the good rappers there, but they got all these new one hit wonders like joc and that bay bay dude, and the shop boyz? fukkin shitt. its these fukkin girls man, not to be sexist, but theyre the ones who mostly vote for the BET and MTV countdowns, (VH1 dont play rap), and they just wanna keep hearing what they think would be hot in the club. If there was a countdown for dudes, it would be all rap city ****, without them gay *** club bangers.
