The United States has the distinction of having the most tornados of any other country in the world.

This is due mainly to the weather conditions in tornado alley. The warm, moist air, from the Gulf of Mexico, mixes with the cool, dry air, out of the Rockies. This is the perfect condition for the formation of Super Cells.

However, even though the mid-west is the prime area for the formation of Super Cells, storms capable of creating a tornado are possible anywhere. However, the northern states are usually drier and cooler, which is not the conditions needed for the formation of a funnel cloud. However, when a moist, warm weather front is in place, say.............over New England, and a dry cool front comes out of the Great Lakes, their meeting is capable of creating tornados, and has done so in the past.

They can happen almost anywhere!!!

Tornados are the strongest and the most frequent in tornado alley, because all of the ingredients to produce tornadic thunderstorms is there. There's dry air, cold air, and warm, moist air all mixing together. Every state in the US has had at least 1 tornado in recorded history, but most states rarely get them, and when they do they are short lived and weak. Most countries have had at least 1 tornado also. In fact we've had at least 3 in England this year, and another one (maybe) in Germany.

Tornados can occur anywhere, just like thunderstorms, but unless it's in the right place geographically they are doomed to be short lived. Their water-based cousins, the waterspout, are almost always weaker than a tornado. Sometimes a tornado will move over water and become a waterspout, or vise versa.

They can occur any time of the year, but are most frequent in spring, when the temperatures are warming up but there is still a strong temperature contrast between the polar air and the subtropical air. But like I said, they can happen any time. London had a tornado in January this year. Hope that helps.

The Midwest, fairly tornado alley is extremely services to getting a tornado because of the warmth Gulf moisture and chilly Artic air coming down from Canada assembly jointly. whilst the air from The Gulf of Mexico and Artic air meet it creates an extremely risky ecosystem becoming severe thunderstorms and frequently times a tornado. this would additionally take place from in basic terms warm humid days assembly with the less warm air at night. some areas of the worldwide are greater services to getting a tornado because of the fact it incredibly is a community the place heat moist air is assembly with less warm air becoming that top situations.
