In the last 20 years, we’ve sent billions in aid to the Arab world. We’ve saved Muslims from Bosnia to Kuwait. We’ve removed dangerous thugs in Afghanistan and Iraq, fostering democracies in their place. We’ve opened our borders to immigrants from the Middle East. We’ve paid billions of dollars in inflated oil prices. All the while, many in the West have wrongly blamed themselves for the conditions in the Middle East.

It’s past time for Middle Easterners to fix their own self-inflicted mess. In the meantime, the U.S. and its allies should help as we can — but first protect ourselves from them as we must.

I know that's right. What are we gaining? Higher oil prices? We need to worry about our own problems.....foreclosures, poverty, unemployment, education, health care, etc.

YES
Don't even deal with those people.
If we didn't need their oil, it would be great to pretend they don't exist and have no more dealings with them.
I hate how are gas prices are too high.
I have an idea that would solve that problem!

Every time they raise the price of oil, we raise the price of food going over there. When oil goes down, we lower the food price down. Our reason? It cost fuel to transport the food and since the prices of oil have risen, we had to increase food transportation cost. They need our food more then we need their oil. Cease communication with them!

Nice sentiments, but naive. Were you alive in September 2001? Without US help, the radical muslims could become dominant in more and more islamic countries, then the US would have to send in troops to "protect ourselves" from state-sponsored terrorism.

On the other hand, we (Bush) CREATED quite a mess over there so we should have to clean it up. Although who can deny that the world is better off without Saddam.
