Back in 1995 ,I married my boyfriend in county jail. The ceremony was soo sad .We got married through a glass window.I would go visit him everyday, But when it came time for him to get transferred out, He called me collect..to tell me to go down to the station to pick up his property, When I did I had noticed some letters from his ex gf..very graphic letters I may add..but this girl lives out of my town..Anyways..the next day when he was about to leave I wanted to confront him about this girl, afterall he is my husband!!! The officer at the visiting window told me that .he had all his visits of the day..so I went home confused and heartbroken..waiting for him to call ...no call..I went the day after to see if he still was there and they told me he had been transferred out the night before..The officers did not realease any info to me, I called his P.O...he told me that he didn't want to act as a 3rd party. To this day I havn't heard from him. i run into inlaws, but they don't talk 2 me.

I admit it! I made a huge mistake..but i'm so over him,The reason why I took so long to do anything about it was..I was involved with someone, had 2 kids with,he felt threatened if i were to try to attempt to get in touch with my husband..to make a long story short..Ifound out he was bipolar..and abusive to me..that lasted 8yrs.I'm not B.S'n, Now I'm with a man that loves &respects me I'm soo happy with him..we have been together 4- 2yrs. Ican't afford an expensive attourney.the court house doesn't give any info..and hiring a private investigator..is out of the question..did i not mention no $$$..There are free and low cost services..but they can't help me ,because there is no place to serve the papers. And yes! i've tried to find him at the last know addresses where his relatives lived..but they all ,moved!!! I'm soo desperate to get this over with!!!Futhermore, you can't have a marriage annulled..that lasted over a year. PLEASE!! don't judge me, I really need some good advice. no bull

The only good advice is to see a lawyer and forget about how much money you think it costs. Whatever it costs is worth it because this is a legal matter. You say you run into in-laws but they don't talk to you. Why is that? They must have some connection to him to even have a reaction to you. That would be one place to start.
That still doesn't take away the need for a lawyer. Contracts are contracts and marriage is a contract. This is no do-it-yourself matter.
If you had to buy a new car, you'd have to come up with the money. Transportation, food, lodging, legal expenses - they all cost money - to somebody (somebody pays the rent, buys the food...), you can't avoid it.

I take it that he is out of jail due to the fact of having a probation officer. I would probably start with going to the county clerk or circuit clerks office, depending on the state in which you live in, then filing for a divorce. He would need to provide an answer for the divorce. Maybe even you could obtain an annulment instead of a divorce. To me it would be a very simple divorce, especially after 12 years and you have no contact with him. Also were there children involved prior to his incarceration?

Well, it's time to cut the boy loose. And I use the term boy, because he surely is not a man. Time to find yourself a lawyer and file for divorce. Can't fine him?, you say. Next time you see any of your in-laws, let it be known that you have moved on and plan to get married soon. Bet, he comes out of the wood work all of a sudden. But even if he doesn't , it won't matter. You can still divorce him. Then find some one that will care for you as a man should, not as a dog does..........Good Luck!

In some places after not being together for five year ,you are able to go and file for a divorce and not need him to sign .You fill out you own divorce papers there is fee's for filing these paper's and their should be someone to help if you need it.Here is a list of the forms you might need .An Application (Divorce)-Form 8A .An Affidavit of Service-Form 6B.A Registration of Divorce Proceeding form (This is not a court form, but is available at the court office.)You might be able to find something in A Guide to Family Procedures in the Superior Court of Justice.

Go to your local court house and speak to their "Lawyer of the day" These are lawyers who donate their time to people who fit their income guidelines, but even if you don't, they will see you. You would probably have to wait until all the people who fit into the guidelines finish first. You should call and talk to someone at the courthouse to direct you to the right person or to schedule an appointment.

You may be able to do a search for his current address with his social security number. Then file for divorce and have him served. You may want to go to your local library and find out the best way to divorce him. Also, if you have not consummated your marriage, it may be possible to get it annulled.

I'm really sorry to hear about that sweetie. You should hire a lawyer to make sure you get the divorce done officially and correctly.
Good luck with this, and I hope everything works out so that your life is much better soon.

You just need to go to court and file for dissertion (if you consumated the marriage). I'm assuming the marriage wasn't consumated ??? (no sex ???) then you can file for annulment. (like you'd never been married).
Why did you wait so long ??? (and why did you marry a prisoner ???)
