We've tried everything it seems, and it only slows them down for maybe a week.

We've got the little ant houses with bait that is supposed to kill the whole colony, we've put ant spikes in the gardens, sprayed the exterior of the house, and put out some other posoin on little pieces of cardboard. (Its late, I don't have the names of treatments at the moment)

The little buggers are everywhere, not really isolated to one area, they seem to be taking over the place. Any food that doesn't come in a can or jar has to be in the fridge, I'm emptying the garbage can to the outside one daily, and I've moved the recycling bin to the garage and they still won't go away.

What else can I do?

There are some very simple things you can do to get rid of ants without using pesticides. They are all natural and do not harm children or pets, and some are very simple to do. Check it out here: http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/329964/how_to_get_rid_of_ants_naturally.html
