Do they exist. Well, that question has been asked many times and I now have a good answer, I think. When I say "life" i mean "intelligent life". We all know microbes also crawl in space.
We live in a very small part of the universe. It is very likely that there is other life somewhere else, because it is just so big. But consider this: Only one out of billions of species that have lived on this earth has become really intelligent. We have very big brains and therefore a very big head, and it is hard for us to give birth, its a very painful process. We have defied the laws of evolution: We are almost blind, we cannot hear well and we our sense of smell is nothing. Nor do we have big claws or razor sharp teeth to defend ourselves against other more dangerous animals. It is a miracle we could sustain ourselves. Then we have tried to kill our brothers and sisters, because we being intelligent just can't stand it if someone else has another opinion. We almost destroyed the whole damn planet in the Cold War, not to mention that we haven't been hit by an asteroid or something. We are some lucky bastards.
So, yes it is possible that there is other intelligent life out there. But, is it now? Humans have been intelligently around for say 20000 years. That's 20000 years out of 13700000000. Who says the other intelligent life is also in this time period?
So there is a whole lot of space and time other intelligent could be in, so I do not believe we are being visited by extra-terrestrials as we speak. :)

I think that it is very possible for there to be other life forms out there in space on some planets which have the necessary characteristics for life to exist. However, the idea that these life forms might be the same as "us" is a very hard pill to swallow, and probably not correct.
Just look at the total number of insect types, fish types, bird types, reptile types...Then look at the total number of mammal types which is a very small number in comparison. And, of that very small number of mammal types, human beings are only one type that evolved after a certain series of climatic conditions occurred.
I think it is very likely that we will find some other planets with thriving bird and fish populations. I think we may also find some planets with huge insect populations. The real question is how do we determine that from our offices and research centers back here on Earth? How do you detect Birds or Fish from hundreds of light years away?

Yes.
A WHOLE universe of MILLIONS OF GALAXIES PUT TOGETHER..... and only Earth has the living things? Heck no.
Aliens exist... they are somewhere out there, probably wondering if they are the only things alive in the whole galaxy as well.
My bet is on Mars having some things. Its very similar to Earth, and the aliens are probably smaller than the eyes can see. Theres also a good chance that they have a higher intelligence than us humans are.. so we better watch out.
Theres also alot of evidence. Plus, if you use common sense, I seriously don't think that we are the only people around here. God created a whole universe, to put inhabitants in it... he probably chose places to put his children other than Earth, I bet.

You seem to have it pretty well figured out.
The ingredients for life are chemicals, environment and time.
All these things are abundant in the universe.
Aliens would be based on some sort of DNA not too different from ours.
They would probably think and act the way we do.
They would probably parallel us closely in intelligence and technology and be saddled with all the problems that complicates life for us. They could look like anything you could imagine.

If you think about it, there is estimated to be about 200 billion galaxies in the universe, which means countless solar systems within these galaxies, and countless planets within these solar systems. out of all the planets in all the solar systems in all the galaxies in the universe, how could Earth possibly be the only planet with intelligent life?

Yes, but the most likely scenario is single celled organisms. I know its popular and appeals to the romantic nature of humans to believe in superior...something. But since earth has been a perfect nest, a perfect closed system with a steady source of energy entering, the perfect composition abundance, perfect...everything--I find it highly unlikely that there's a more fortuitous ecosystem in the universe where superior life exists.

Yes I believe they exist for the exact same reason that you do. It is ridiculous to think that in the infinite expanse of the universe that is billions of years old, that this planet is the only one where intelligent life exists.
Whether we have been visited by them though... Now that's another story.

Sure, aliens exist. Like you said, what with the universe being so big, it would just be impossible if we're the only "beings" on it.
There's this comic strip that I came across one time and it says something like: The only sign that intelligent beings also exist is the fact that none of them has contacted us yet.

Yes! That's so true, I've always believed in aliens..they say that we already have found them they just aren't making it public because they don't want the whole world in chaos, but I'm not sure if that's 100% true.

i think extraterrestrial beings exist using fact people can not be the only ones in the universe who occupy a planet. What are those different planets available for? somebody should be residing on them...
