In countries like Africa, women wear it in the vagina and it would mutilate the penis of the rapist. He would have to get medical attention immediately and in also to remove it.

I find this to be very cruel...I would never rape any girl, I'll never need to - I get it regularly from my girlfriend whenever she wants me. But I can't say the same for those poor, uneducated men living in those other countries. It's such an unfair, inhuman thing to wear, and should be illegal- because those men don't know any better. They could get an infection or worse. They can become aggravated, and in shock, end up killing the woman.

I think women should just stick to pepper spray and whatnot.

Jeez...Why do I get the feeling that all the women answering this are all ugly and bitter...Pretty sure a guy would bite off his own stick than to rape you bitter hags.

I need reasonable, sympathetic, educated, non-hateful, answers without insults

i was reading about that a few months ago, and I have mixed opinions. On one hand, it would prevent spur of the moment rapes, and let the woman get away. When a guy's dick is being sliced, the last thing he's worrying about is killing the woman in front of him.

but on the other hand, men now know some woman are using this, so they could resort to more savage ways to torture or rape them. I was reading about how men could violate the woman with stick or some other object first, to check for the device.

i don't think they should be illegal though, how is it unfair and inhuman? the woman isn't asking to be raped, and regardless of how poor or uneducated a man is, he should know better than to go around violating women. he deserves it.

EDIT: all the answers you received so far have been intelligent and sympathetic...for the victims.

It's not our fault that we do not agree with your archaic views of 'it's fine if they get raped, the poor men over there don't know any better. cut them some slack'. You obviously have never met a victim of rape, it's so much more than a physical violation. These women are traumatized for life.

i feel sorry for your girlfriend. Actually, Im pretty sure you made that part up, no self-respecting woman would be able to stand your chauvinistic views.

-an old, bitter, ugly hag.

Yes, I have heard of this. Actually, it does not mutilate the penis. Barbs stick into the penis to cause extreme pain and allow for the escape of the woman. It must be surgically removed which helps notify that a rape occured [which may or may not have been reported by the victim]
Yes, it does seem a little extreme, but the concept is just. Perhaps it should not be legal in places such as Africa because many of the people there cannot afford the healthcare it would take to prevent an infection or even pay for the surgery.
The likelyhood of them killing the woman is not high as rapes in Africa are more often by strangers than someone who would be able to return to the woman and have any sort of revenge and the immediate pain is too crippling.

I really can't make up my mind on these rapex things. I think in the US they may be helpful in protecting women and reporting crimes that may not otherwise be reported, but it seems in poorer countries, it may not be such a good idea.

.....Because there is such a huge supply of pepper spray readily available to these impoverished women and all. You're right, though, the guys should be allowed to go around raping women unpunished because "they don't know any better". Good call. You will make a fine politician someday.

Edit: The answers you are receiving are sympathetic....they are sympathetic to the victims of rape. I can't honestly believe that you truly believe anything that you said in your question and I think that you are simply trolling for arguments. Your tone is very juvenile and I highly doubt that you even have a girlfriend. Most MEN (men being the key word) don't feel it necessary to brag about how much they get it from their girlfriends and they surely don't discuss that when attempting to defend the rape of women in other countries. It's hard to believe that you would actually expect anyone to feel sorry for these men because the might "get an infection" from this contraption. What the hell is wrong with you? These men are spreading AIDS and HIV to the population because there are no consequences for their actions.

Rape is not a crime of sex, but of power and domination. It doesn't matter what the women look like. If the men are free to behave like animals, they will regardless of how attractive someone is. I don't think you know the meanings of the words "educated", "intelligent", "sensitive". You definitlely have a lot of growing up to do. I weep for your future.

Violence is never a remedy for violence, but in a country where the law is scarce in many of the villages and the society tends to favor male control - What option is left for these poor women?

There is nothing unfair or inhumane about it. If that is what they have to resort to because rape is running rampant, then it is what has to be. there is nothing uneducated about the situation. The men know that it is wrong, but they do it because they don't care and do not believe women hold hte same value as men. Is it not cruel to rape a women? Are you empathizing with men because you can feel their pain? What about the emotion and physical pain the women suffer? Is that right? These women will live with that emotional scar for their entire life and also they are not considered virgins and it will be very hard for them to marry. Do you know how many women contract HIV because they have been raped in Africe? Do you know that it is the fastest growing region where HIV is spreading? The man could lose their penis? The woman could lose their life. People do what they have to do to survive. You are fortunate to not have to live under those conditions. Do not judge other people with an ethnocentric view.

you're very ignorant in this area. In africa women dont carry around pepper spray and many are raped daily. that why it was invented. It is of course questionable if its a good invention because, a woman would have to wear one every day in CASE she might get raped which would be annoying and expensive over time. The rapex is like a condom and works the way the spikes work on the road: tire spikes point in one direction so yo ucan drive over them, but not backwards. So insertion would be okay but if trying to remove the penis, it would get caught on the blade. It can only be removed in hospitals, which means the male would be caught for a rape attempt. Who knows whether its a good idea because yes the male may be driven to murder her, but thats why its a woman's own personal choice to buy and wear one.

men don't know better than to rape? Since when??? That activity is taboo in EVERY culture - it's just not a thing you do, regardless of your formal educational level. They sure as hell know better than to rape a woman.

I was agreeing with you to an extent until you said that.

Rape is a crime of VIOLENCE, not sex. It's meant to degrade and humiliate, and in some countries, totally ruin a woman's life. Most African families -and in some other places as well - blame the woman for allowing herself to be attacked and for not having the grace to die from it - she will never be allowed to marry or have children, and is often cast out of her home and shunned by all. In such cases, I can see violence in return for violence.

However, it's likely women wearing these aren't just going to end up raped, they are going to end up being killed, because the rapist is already an angry man - now you've ruined his penis - is he going to lay there screaming, or is he going to kill that woman?

Odds are, she's dead.

So it's a bad idea all the way around.

But you need to get that idea that men from other countries don't know better - they surely do, as well as the consequences of it - and that is why rape occurs.

Sorry, I think it's the perfect defense. Nobody knows who is wearing one. "It's such an unfair, inhuman thing to wear, and should be illegal". Well I guess rape doesn't rate much as crime with you. Let me ask you about this when you have some daughters. Hell, I wish it bit their penis off. I have NO sympathy for rapists.

Imagine it was your gf, what would you do? Just say why didnt you have the pepper spray in your hand instead of in your purse or car? Your in the wrong room in the first place, and unless it has ever happened to you or someone you know. You dont know how it feels, and I believe its up to the woman, If it wasnt such a problem, than why worry about what you'll never experience.

Jacktheripper... LOL... What is it like a bear trap or somethin?

Well my personal feelings are that if you werent raping someone your ding dong would be ok so I think if you are going to do something to violate another person that badly you deserve to have your sausage cut up the middle. Can you imagine if 1 in 15 women had one of those on? Rapists would prolly quit because you just dont know who has the "Penisplicer" installed.

I think its a fantastic idea and would like to shake the hand of the person who invented it. Rape isn't just a physical act, its just as much, if not more a mental one. Someone who would actually do such a crime deserves NO PITY for what he gets from this device. HE chooses to do it to himself by performing a crime.
