They are trained to think in different terms. Everyone has different logic. To a car sales man, it's logical to buy a special edition car with the sun roof and the built in wood grain over the LX civic, because it gets better gas mileage and higher resale value (although it costs thousands more) and get a $5000 warranty package....when $2000 package is sufficient enough. They don't care if you have school debts or family to raise....they loose all sense of empathy. And so does a politician. If they cared about you and me....then they won't be in with the rest of the political corporate whores driving their BMW and recieving $$$ from lobbists. That's why Nadar will never be taken seriously, because he refuses to take lobbyist money. Kinda like what Obama preaches, but doesn't do.

Not sure about the car salesman or politician, but I can answer the question as it pertains to lawyers.
Generally, there is no clear cut answer to issues in the law. Unlike what most people think, the law is not black or white, there are many many shades of grey. Thus, it is difficult to give a straight answer when none exists. For example, if a statute has not been interpreted by the relevant court, but other sister courts have interpreted the statute, such interpretations would be persuasive on the relevant court, but not mandatory. Accordingly, the lawyer can never be sure how the relevant court will construe the statute. As such, the lawyer can give an answer to the best of the lawyer's judgment, but the lawyer cannot give a "for sure" straight answer.
The substantive areas of the law can get very complicated. If the law was straight forward and clearcut, being a lawyer would not be difficult and lawyers would not be able to charge the amounts they do.

As to the lawyer part -- What options are available depends on the facts. In a legal dispute, it is typically not the laws that are in dispute but the facts. Because someone else is going to decide the facts (not the lawyer), the lawyer has to condition his answer and a simple yes or no would be inaccurate.
As to the politician part -- People tend to shoot the messenger. When someone asks a question that requires a politician to tell the voters what they can't have (but so desperately want), politicians are afraid that an honest and straightforward answer will cost them votes. So they evade the question.

Politicians will never give you a straight answer because they are always trying to appeal to EVERYONE (Both parties are guilty of this)
Lawyers won't give you a straight answer because they have been trained to speak in hypotheticals and nothing is really concrete with them. Car Sales people will not give you a straight answer because they have been trained to NEVER talk about price (Joe Verde training). That way they can sell you the sizzle and you don't even think about price.
Hope this helps

You are asking some very original and thought-provoking questions today, my grasshopper. And I know you have your OWN answers so please share. Of course, the nature of the politician and the car salesman are the same. To steal from you. To satisfy their own greed and lust for power (to manipulate you to benefit themselves.) I would like to believe that lawyers start out with higher principals (same with politicians) but corruption and greed are heady mistresses.

consistent with danger a automobile salesman all of them are reliable in PR yet a criminal expert and could do something just to make his shopper win. a flesh presser on the different hand additionally will do something just to win our vote. yet a automobile salesman would let us know the two the experts and cons of procuring for the motor vehicle he's promoting. i dunno, yet for me that's the motor vehicle salesman. you will lose the least with a automobile salesman than a criminal expert or flesh presser

All three want you to see things their way. They'll try not to outright lie, but they'll spin the truth as best as they can to get their point across.
