Advantages: Blank CDs are very cheap, and almost every computer made these days has a CD burner.

Disadvantages: CDs are outdated technology for data storage. You can fit much more information on a DVD (a little pricier than a CD, and you need a DVD burner) or on a USB flash drive (which are expensive, but can be used over and over, hold a LOT, and are usually small enough to keep on a keychain).
