I saw on the news that a kid had been suspended from school for a minor infraction. Honestly, I do not remember what he did, but it was trivial. I think taking a child or making a child stay home from school is wrong. I believe there are other alternatives, such as putting them in a detention class during that time. This class would be one that would make them read or study during this time and insist that they produce a paper on what they did, why they did it and what they think would have prevented it.

Suspending a kid from school is only asking for them to get into more trouble. Do you agree with me?

I agree. Children should not be suspended from school since there are no parents or adults home with the child these days. They just look at it as a vacation not a punishment. Put them in school & give them extra work to do. Have them do a report, at least someone will be watching them & not just letting them sleep all day.

It seems anymore kids are being suspended for ridiculous stuff, like a 5-year old kindergarten boy being expelled for kissing another student. Like a 5 year old knows better! Personally, I think it's cute and innocent - like children should be. Our society is taking things way too far anymore. Suspension used to be for the really bad kids - fist fights, bomb threats, etc, and that was mostly just for the safety of the other kids. And even then, it was in-house, meaning they still had to come to school, but was kept with the pricipal or someone like it for the day. Our society should look back on the good ol' days of 20-30 years ago and realize how much better the world was back then.

Suspending any child from school is just hindering his/her education. Then these moron teachers wonder why a child is behind in class at times.
That's the best part about our home school. If you get into trouble here, you just get more homework and no royalties until it's done.

It has been years since I was in school, but we have both in school and out of school suspension. The only time you got out of school suspension was if you were thought to be dangerous or they were preparing to expel you. Maybe the kid had in school suspension.
