There is a car that is being marketed in India that runs on compressed air. Think of those Airhog toys you can buy, only this is bigger. I think it can go up to 55 mph and has a 150 mile range. It won't be marketed in the US because it is a very light vehicle and it would never pass safety tests. So yes, there is.

Not yet. Some of the manufacturers are looking into it. Ford, had some work on a truck that has air cylinders that would be filled when the truck would stop and then the air would be released when the truck went to take off. This was to help with the gas mileage of the truck.
Car companies are trying anything they can to make the cars run better on less fuel.
Some day who knows we may have cars that run on air.

If you mean a car runs on top of air, it can be fitted with a turbofan and wings to send it in the air. No cars yet in this category yet.....
If you mean burning air in the engine, then yes, cars do run on CNG, Hydrogen etc.

Listen to Tisker. He answered correctly.
The range that they plan to have on that car is incredible, at least to me. Its "gas tank" will be air compressed to about 2000 psi. It's really like charging a battery. Ideally, you'd use electricity to pump up the tanks. The difference is you could stop at an "air station" and fill it up real fast, which you can't do with batteries quite so easily.

There is a car that runs on compressed air, it's made in India. Vehicle is too lightly constructed to pass DOT safety standards for highway use.
