Chinese mythology?

I'm really interested in Chinese mythology but can't seem to find how mythology links with everyday life in China. Does anyone know how chinese mythology influences the values of everyday life in China? Any sites would be greatly appreciated too. Thanks

I would suggest that you acquire "Ancient Tales and Folklore of China" by Edward Werner and The Analects of Confucious. The comparison and contrast of the two still control much of Chinese life in the deep countryside.
