To make a light, you would need: (for what you describe)

* a working 6 volt bulb

* a socket for the bulb

* a positive and negative wire

* a 6 volt battery with some power in it

Light bulb goes in socket, two wires come off socket, one wire to each pole on the battery.

If it isn't working: Is your battery dead? Is your bulb a 6 volt bulb? A lower voltage bulb will burn-out very fast. Are your wires in good condition? Are your wires contacted to clean surfaces? You many need to take some sandpaper to clean the off a little for better contact. Is your socket damaged? Are your wires connected properly?

Is this a regular light bulb like from a house lamp? If so you cant get enough current from 6V. You need a 6V light, or even a 12V will light up but be an orange glow instead of white light.

Wrong kind of current. You are trying to light an a.c. current bulb with a d.c. current battery.
