... refrigerated and that you can in fact store your raw eggs anywhere you wanted.

Is that true?

So I subsequently asked her why so many fridges are equipped with egg cups (usually inside the fridge's door) and why so many folks store their eggs in the fridge. She replied that was because you need to put them somewhere inside your kitchen so might as well keep them inside the fridge.

Am I crazy here or was that lady telling me the truth?!?

And also, when you purchase eggs from the store, are they kept in the chilled section/department of the store?

What do you think?

That's an excellent question and I think that you should definitely keep your eggs under wraps deep inside your fridge, lol!

Know what I mean?

Refrigerated eggs last longer and taste better. If eggs are stored under cool conditions they will last for some time, but they lose moisture slowly through the shell. A method used in the good old days was to dip the eggs in sodium silicate (water glass) which sealed the shell for a longer storage time.

if you get your eggs from the grocery store, they are kept cold by the milk.. it keeps them fresher longer that way.. And if you do get them from the store, you do have to keep them refrigerated otherwise they will go bad... Now, if you get your eggs fresh from a chicken, then no, they don't NEED to be kept cold, but like I said, it keeps them fresh longer.

I actually do know someone that only refrigerates them in the summer time.
I think they really just need to be kept cool. And maybe last longer refrigerated.

I think they should be refrigerated once their refrigerated or they can go bad, but I think it just makes them last longer cause like in the "olden days", they couldn't afford to keep everything in an ice box or even afford an ice box. I wouldn't exactly know.

I was told by a farmer that eggs can be kept out of the frig but will cut the "shelf life" in half.
