the people that own it used to rent it out but now this old lady is buying it for sale by owner. There is a man that is building a subdivision across the street from the trailer and I think he is in on buying it and keeping it vacant to try and help sales because it is his workers that come and cut the grass. The trailer has a roof over the porch that hangs over my fence on the side of the house. I have been dealing with the city about having the owner take care of it, with no results. I spoke to the owner that is selling it and he always sounds real friendly, but never comes through, and every time I call him he was “just about to call me”. Anyway, we have termites that can’t be treated until that area dries up back there, which won’t because it rains at least every other day and back there it is very wet. My husband is going to take down that tin roof himself tomorrow. How much trouble can we get in? I have taken pictures and I am ready to be taken to court. What would you do??

Vandalism. Their inaction sucks, but your husband may be charged with vandalism. You need to stop being friendly with them and start being assertive. Tell them you are planning on taking them to court for the termite damage done to your property that would have been prevented if they took the roof off as has been requested.

Anything that is on your property is yours to do with as you please. Just as if a tree is on your neighbors property, but the branches hang over onto yours. You have every right to cut down those branches. In my business law class in college, the professor (who was also a lawyer) told us that he had a 20 acre area that he owned at the back of his property. Well, the neighbor back there whose property butted up against his, built a shed and got the property measurements wrong, so it was really built on the lawyer's property. He found out and told that neighbor that he now legally owned that shed and all it's contents. The neighbor said, "I'll take it down and move it onto my yard." and the lawyer said, "You aren't touching my new shed!" He had had past problems with this neighbor, so he kept the shed!

Call your City & County right away. They are the ones who handles abandon houses and run down houses.
And if they continue to refuse to move to help you, nothing like the TV Stations or your News Papers. Nobody likes bad publicity.
