About a yearago my took $800.00 dollors from me for a car that came off my truck. I tow about 10-18 cars in a night, 6 days a week. No other damage in two years. I only get 35% of the tow +gas.

I agree with Judy that perhaps they could sue you for it but they shouldn't be able to just deduct it from your pay unless you signed some sort of contract saying they could. Being that it is a company dependent on their vehicles, they should have adequate insurance to cover any accidents. I would consult an attorney to find out for sure though.

Are you an employee or are you an independent contractor? The fact that you are paid on a percentage basis instead of receiving an hourly wage tells me that you are probably a contractor, not an employee.

If you are an actual employee, you normally cannot be held financially responsible for any mistakes that you make. You can be fired for a mistake - but you don't have to pay for it.

On the other hand, if you are an independent contractor, your responsibilities are determined by whatever agreement you have with the towing company. It is not uncommon for a contractor to have pay damages up to the amount of the deductible on the company's insurance policy. So, if you are really a contractor rather than an employee, you very likely could have to pay for the damages.

If it was a mistake, and you did not intend to cause damage then your employer is responsible for damages you cause while you are on the job, doing your job related duties.
It is his truck, you are acting as his agent, it is his responsibility. This is why trucking companies always want drivers with clean driving records, they have to insure you and are responsible for your on the road accidents. If you get a lawyer, you will get your money back, but you will probably have to look for a new job.

Sounds to me like the organisation is making you pay for organisation expenses, and this stinks to extreme heaven to me. somebody extra useful get on the telephone and initiate making calls to state companies that cope with worker/corporation kin. i'd ask "Why could I could purchase your gas for you?" What happens if the truck desires a music-up or new tires? Are you going to pay for that too? don't be a wimp. tell the boss you're the two no longer procuring the gas or you're no longer utilising the trucks. it is ridiculous.

Normally they can't just deduct it from your pay, but they can require you to pay for it or sue you for the money.
