Ok, is it possible for me to take my laptop, DSL Modem, Ethernet Cable, and DSL cable and unplug is from that hole in the wall (the name slips) and reconnect it from my room to the living room?

Will something br wrong with my Internet or my phone?

I have a Speedstream 4100 modem, and I have SBC Yahoo DSL.

As long as it is the same telephone service it will work. Make sure you have the filter between the wall socket and the modem.

I actual have that too. in case you ability cycle the modem by means of shutting it off for 15 seconds and then turning it on that's going to reset (could take a jiffy) I swear that's something on the pole exterior. After the final hurricane there became some injury. i comprehend there became some fix artwork to the lines (I actual have DSL by way of telephone line). besides it has not been appropriate yet not something like earlier.

yes it can as long as you are connecting to the same line only. as with what the other guy said about the filters, they go inline of the phone only. they filter out the high freqs that is needed for the DSL. move the computer and modem anywhere in your house . you don't need to do anything with the filter as they don't need moved. come on people, DSL works off phone lines not cable. help the guy don't screw with his head and tell him things if you don't know what you're talking about!!!

It should work fine. Although, if you split your cable connection and that port has gone through a lot of splitters, the connection signal may be bad and it might not work/be slow.

I must ask, though: why are you using a laptop without a wireless router?

it all depends on whether it is the same isp and how lazy and loose the dsl isp is . ( and as well if you are paid up)
