The rap will never die!!
But the awfull and scary face of music industry is wounding it badly!!
The worst is coming all around the world (G Unit & Cie) but your jewels are trapped in the country (Talib Kweli, Murs, Termanology)!!
Bring us the best your artits can do!!
I can't wait to be back in the 90's ...

The reason people think Hip Hop is dying it because most artists out nowadays only make records to make money. The true artists in Hip Hop have a poetical flow that isn't concentrated on money, women, sex, drugs, a dance, and whatnot, but actually have CONTENT in the lyrics. Of course, those type of artists (in Hip Hop, R&B, etc.) are underrated and don't get the attention they deserve. They're albums are usually critically acclaimed but are a commercial failure.
In reality, Hip Hop is not dead, it just doesn't get the attention it deserves.

i think that for every sorry rapper out there, there is a talented lyricist whether it be on the mainstream level or underground...I dont think hip hop is dead, most of the kids in this generation dont listen to artists who spit with substance in their songs...they just want to be entertained, all they look for in a song is a good beat with a catchy hook (which explains how dudes like Mims and Hurricane Chris got their record deals), people should pay more attention to the lyrical side of hip hop.

I think hip hop was something that had potential to be great. However, corporatization, a general lack of creativity and artists for the most part being able to cover new issues (beyond money, sex and drugs) have been killing the genre for years.
