Forget school for these clothes.
You need to come up with places to go--afternoon concerts in the summer sun, arts fairs, plays, the new old-fashioned drive-in movies, etc.
Even trips to the museum can be a fashionable excursion, as can some social events. But don't waste fashion on school!

Sounds like you enjoy being comfortable, which is a good way to go if you'll be sitting in class all day. If you only wear sweatshirts, I would start by experimenting with different tops first. Maybe try layering. The GAP is a good place to go for basics like these. Try pairing a long sleeve V-neck sweater in black or navy with a bright colored cami underneath for a pop of color. Don't forget to accessorize. A few accessories can totally change an outfit and are generally cheaper than buying lots of new clothes. If you're looking for inspiration, you should check out the new GossipGirl inspired clothing line coming to Target soon. I'm posting a link of where you can find pictures below. I'm not sure what your age is but I think the looks are really cute.

i would say being a sophomore, you could do the 70's style jeans and stilettos, the halter and tank tops, but put a jacket or a button up shirt over them. or wear skinny jeans with a 70's style dress over it and some ballet flats. there are so many ideas. you could even copy the outfits of people you see on tv shows, movies, celebrities, and magazines, and of course random people who you see walking around that have really good style. just keep it fun and fresh and be yourself. your confidence and personality will make anything look good.

Girls, girls, there are rules!!! Number one, at least when in school, is versatility. Can you walk in it for hours? Sit down comfortable? Raise your arms above your head? Can you mix and match to create several new outfits? Number two is style. Make your own, of course. My fave new trend? Puffy sleeves! This sounds so stupid, but I bought 2 new tops with them, and raised pleated sleeves seem to be everywhere. So have a signature. And in the words of Petra Nemcova "sexy, poised". You must walk with an air of grace, and you can make a simple pair of jeans, a sweet baby doll T, and a pair of peep toe pumps look high-style and worthy of a catwalk.
