During this Iraq "war", we've had several events to attempt to "rally" American sentiment, most notably the plight of Pat Tillman.
When he was killed, he became the poster boy for America; the tough, strong NFL star that gave up his multi-million dollar contract to patriotically defend his country, as Willie Mays and Ted Williams did during WWII.
It was reported that he died valiantly at the hands of the enemy but then documents showed that he died by friendly fire and the information was covertly suppressed by our own government.
Now there is evidence that shows he was not accidently shot but intentionally murdered while Army attorneys sent each other congratulatory e-mails for keeping criminal investigators at bay as the Army conducted an internal friendly-fire investigation that resulted in administrative, or non-criminal, punishments.
Can our government be corrupt that it would intentionally murder Pat Tillman to use it as fodder to promote an unpopular war?

Deloris--- Here is the link where I found it, but it was actually reported by the Associated Press, about as solid a source as you can have:

Oops, obviously Mays and Williams were drafted, they didn't volunteer like Tillman. Just making the point that they were high profile celebrities.
And for those claiming this is a "conspiracy theory", we already know that the information of "friendly fire was suppressed and exposed...so it's not a theory anymore, it is officially a conspiracy.

Yeah, the truth isn't as nice,
If the military is shooting at someone in US uniform only a dozen yards away who is waving and saying "stop! I'm Pat f**king Tillman!" can you imagine how many innocent civilians are being gunned down?
Did they find out who shot him? Why not?
Why is he or (they) being protected?
and why when the friendly fire story came out did they try to smear his character?

I realize this is not an answer but could you post your source for the above paragraph please? I'd like to research it a bit.
Thank you,

New Evidence Clearly Indicates Pat Tillman Was Executed
http://www.prisonplanet.com/articles/july2007/270707tillmanexecuted.htm
Army medical examiners concluded Tillman was shot three times in the head from just 10 yards away, no evidence of "friendly fire" damage at scene, Army attorneys congratulated each other on cover-up, Wesley Clark concludes "orders came from the very top" to murder pro-football star because he was about to become an anti-war political icon.
The evidence points directly to it and the motivation is clear - Tillman abandoned a lucrative career in pro-football immediately after 9/11 because he felt a rampaging patriotic urge to defend his country, and became a poster child for the war on terror as a result. But when he discovered that the invasion of Iraq was based on a mountain of lies and deceit and had nothing to do with defending America, he became infuriated and was ready to return home to become an anti-war hero.
As far back as March 2003, immediately after the invasion, Tillman famously told his comrade Spc. Russell Baer, "You know, this war is so ******* illegal," and urged his entire platoon to vote against Bush in the 2004 election. Far from the gung-ho gruff stereotype attributed to him, Tillman was actually a fiercely intellectual man with the courage of his convictions firmly in place.
Tillman had even begun to arrange meetings with anti-war icons like Noam Chomsky upon his return to America before his death cut short any aspirations of becoming a focal point for anti-war sentiment.
According to Daily Kos, Wesley Clark appeared on Keith Olbermann's Countdown last night and stated that "the orders came from the very top" to murder Tillman as he was a political symbol and his opposition to the war in Iraq would have rallied the population around supporting immediate withdrawal.
The notion that the U.S. government gave orders for Army top brass to execute Pat Tillman in cold blood is the most damaging indictment of the Iraq war since it began, trumping the lies about weapons of mass destruction tenfold, but if the establishment media continue to soft-peddle and steam-valve one of the biggest stories of the century its impact will be completely diluted.

Wesley Clark said there is evidence that Pat Tillman was going public with anti-war sentiment when he returned to the states. Clark said that he was murdered because he was viewed as a hero for joining the military and the govenment couldn't have him muttering against the war.

No, Pat Tillman was not murdered for propaganda.
Pat Tillman was inadvertently killed by friendly fire. It is all well-documented, and that is why it was brought out into the open.

Are you one of those foreign Internet terrorists? Sure sounds like it.
Please lie to someone that is too ignorant to buy it. He is/was/and will always be a hero. He defined his own actions, not any government. He died for his beliefs, not for a government.
He served his country, that is enough for me.

stop with the f*cking conspiracies. jesus its getting ridiculous. You know there are actually some people in this world who believe we never went to the moon and who believe that bush blew up the twin towers....these conspiracies really need to stop, i'm getting depressed that people can actually be that naive. I mean, people don't even support these theories with any evidence....they just connect the dots in their sick and twisted heads.

I doubt the U.S. would intentionally murder one of their own. That would be sheer stupidity at its worst. The U.S. isn't THAT bad.
It was the result of accidental friendly fire.
