Most other countries they drive on the same side as us. Japan, England, Australia, New Zealand are the only places that drive on the right side that I can think of.
Mechanically it is better to drive on the left side. This places the throttle pedal near the center of the car, and the throttle control of the engine is, at least in the past in the center middle of the engine.
Secondly, you don't have to route the throttle cable around the master cylinder and brake booster.
Third, If you are right handed it is more comfortable for most people to operate the stick shift with their right hand.
The reason why they did it? Well I assume the first car manufacture there in the country did it that way and everyone thereafter did too.

Simply put, the driver side of the vehicle is situated closer to the centerline or center divider of the road. In countries, such as Japan and New Zealand, they drive on the left side of the road, thus the driver side being on the right side of the car.

Your Question is not correct
only BG, India,Pakistan , Japan Australia,Srilanka, and New Zealand are driving right side
USA and the rest of the world are left hand driving
90% of the world driving left side ( Just the same as USA)
There is a joke about that
In India and Pakistan they tried to change from right to left , they did not succeed because the Horses , donkeys and Bulls keeps running to right hand and caused big accidents so the stopped that
GOOD LUCK

When I was a kid in school, they actually taught us when and why Americans started to pass each other on the right side of the road, with the driver on the left. Does anybody else remember that?
