anyone believe in past lives being in charge of your own life?
I've always felt like my past life got here before i did and messed everything up.

Slight. There are times that I wonder why I have some certain behaviors and emotions over some things. and there are just times I have lived in the past before... and I miss doing now. I don't know. It's just weird. Einstein's theory of relativity and Multidimensional reality theory something could tell us the possibility of the existence of past lives.

I think we may have feelings of being here before or having seen a place or person before.
I don't think your past or feeling of having been here before take charge of your life. You are in charge of your life and your actions or reactions to things.
It is possible that the things you have done in the past in this life have caught up with you. carma? who knows. if you have been here before, what have you learned? what do you still need to learn so that you don't have to keep coming back.....if you are haunted, in fact, by your past life do what you can to make amends.. leave this place better than you found it, treat everyone fairly, do onto others as you would have done to you.. The concepts have been around a long time. Maybe our energy is recycled just channel that energy for good.Don't leave a "mess" to clean up later, why put off tomorrow what you can do today..if it's not true you'll live a happier now, if it is true you'll live a happier future. don't mess it up again.

what you are now is a result of where you have been.
so decisions that you have made in past lives are affecting you right now.
think about who you are and why you picked where you reincarnated into.
if you realize why you are here, you can decide to change the things you do not like, nothing says you can't change your mind and take your life a new direction, a direction that you pick now.
realizing the influence of your past and why you picked a specific life this time, will usually free you from its control
good luck in the future of your choosing, because of all the choices the future will let you make.

Past lives dont really control who you are this time around. They can pass certain phrases, mannerisms and even likes/dislikes. The rest is up to you. If you've been reincarnated, there must be something you didn't learn in the last one, and need to know before you can move on. What that something is can be very personal or rather public, depends on the person.

Yes. You can be in charge of your own life; but your objective is to clean up your karma...but sometimes it's not so much that you've "messed up", you've just not found your correct path.
Sometimes rather than push against a brick wall, we need to walk around it.

There does seem to be a lot of people who believe in past lives, though there is no credible evidence for them. There are only anecdotes, wishful thinking, apocryphal stories, misinterpreted dreams and the power of suggestion. The best "evidence" collected so far was done by Prof Ian Stevenson, but even Stevenson admitted that "the evidence is not flawless and it certainly does not compel such a belief. Even the best of it is open to alternative interpretations..." And although it gave me a big belly laugh, another answer that mentioned the Theory of Relativity predicts something about past lives (uh, no, it doesn't) is one of the more absurd things I've heard yet on Yahoo Answers.
You live in the now. The choices you make now is what influences your life now.

life in it's self is a manifestation,and to understand past lives,
you must understand what is Reincarnation ,either from a philosophical perspective,or in a religious-cultural point of view,and at the end it is going to get you to the point of
dealing with your present situation,and the results of handling
your situation at the present ,will determine your existence in the future...

What makes you think we have lived in other bodies before? So many people seem to believe in past lives but nobody has ever presented any evidence. Why would so many people believe in something that neither they nor anyone else on the planet have experienced? Isn't that disturbing?
