was wrong with him? He has done the on again off again relationship with his kids mom for years, but said he knew when he was with her he was not going to marry her. We have only been dating for a few months, but I don't want to waste mt time with someone who will never settle down. I was kinda hoping that his kids mom taught him the do's and the don'ts when it comes to making a relationship work, and now he knows where he wants to be. My gf said if a man is almost 40-years-old, and he has either never been married or he don't have kids, that something is wrong with him. What do you think.

I think it is likely in the majority of cases, that the man in question has commitment issues. However, it could be possible that he just hasn't met "the one" and you could be it.. Only time will tell.. if you're having fun, you aren't wasting time..

no there is nothing wrong with him.. your friends are wrong...
but the fact is at 40 he has options you don''t
and most at 40 with kids will NEVER remarry
and will NEVER want to
why would they want to?
what possible benefit could be derived from it, they all ready have children, they might pay support but at least they have no alimony.. and with a 50% divorce rate this country he is smart not to get married
if you leave him
ohh well
he will find another
you are replaceable
a signed paper will not hold anyone together forever
the 50% plus divorce rate is rock solid proof of the hypocrates that we all are of breaking the wedding vows
and women marry for security.. not love... as if it was for love then all of them would gladly sign a pre nup and waive all financial rights with a post nup
but most will tell you that it's unromantic....
and what money have to do with love ??
nothing..

hence the 2nd hypocracy that men see with women
oh women will say it love
but once in a marriage then the behaviour changes and then they wait for time.. and eventually the man get served papers and he financially poor for quite some time....
most men know at least 2 to 3 good friends who have been through the divorce court ringer.. .and say i'll never go there myself.. and also realize in any relationship... both sides are replaceable.. and..only the foolish get married...

There doesn't have to be anything 'wrong' with a guy of that age not having been married - my husband was 38 when we married, but he had never been married before, and of course had no children.
About your guy, I would worry most about his lack of character, that he never married the mom of his kids - even when she was pregnant with the first one. That speaks of poor character.

If a man is almost 40-years-old and he has never been married, something is definitely wrong with that man. There is no question about that whatsoever.

Well this type of man is afraid of commitments. So your better off without him if your seeking commitments in your relationship with him. But you know the old saying "some men never learn" regardless of age etc.

He's undoubtedly one who does not wish to be obligated or restrained. Give him back to his kid's mom. Dont waste your time with someone who obviously is too self oriented to be interested in another for more reason than his own benefit/pleasure.

I think he probably has a committment problem.
To be on again off again with his children's mother is the first clue.
Why have more than one child with someone you've no desire to commit to?
Listen to your gut.
You say you don't want to waste your time..then don't.
