all i know is that it lasted more than 100 mins. and the last 10 mins. or so it had a lot of percussuions and when it was finished the audience waited like for 10 mins before clapping im not sure if it was by a modern composer.

It's hard to identify with so little description, It could be Bartok's Concerto for Orchestra, Or Shostakovitch 5th Symphony. Or two dozen other pieces.

Gadfly is correct in a sense. The work to which he refers is Haydn's famous "unsubtitled" symphony.
