From what I can find on the Connecticut labor laws I believe that employers are required to pay overtime (1.5 times the regular wage) for every hour over 40 per work week. At my job, the pay period is two weeks long, and my employer only gives us overtime if we work more than 80 hours in the two weeks, not 40 per each week. Is that legal? In other words you can work 60 hours one week, then only 15 the next, and not get overtime pay for the extra 20 hours the first week. I don't think that's right, does anyone else know?

No, it's not legal. Whether CT requires it or not, FEDERAL law requires that overtime be paid for hours over 40 in one week. The employer can define the week as whatever 168 consecutive hours they want to (it doesn't have to be Sunday thru Saturday) but it has to stay consistent.

The only real exception is if you are not covered by overtime laws. That's possible in some types of jobs. But if you are covered, then it's OT after 40 hours a week, not 80 total in two weeks.
