what foods are high in vitamin for my turtles?

see she has swollen eyes and this is caused by vitamin a difficiency. I hadn't noticed but i believe i bought him at the pet store like that. I don't wanna take her back because I don't know what they might do to it. I don't want them to like kill it so I want to cure it myself.

Bright orange, yellow, and green veggies are best. Try these:
Asparagus, Pumpkins, Broccoli, Carrots, Sppinach, Sweet Potatoes

Swollen eyes from vitamin defficiency will happen from time to time. It can usually be corrected with diet.

1. Vitamin A problems are not common in water turtles unless they have a terrible diet. Infections and stress are more common.

2. Once the eyes swell, they rarely eat well.

3. The stress of moving from the pet store to your home could have easily done part of it.

What you need to do now is a few basic things.

a- Research the turtle's needs and make SURE you are doing things right- right tank size, right water quality, right diet, etc. Try http://www.austinsturtlepage.com for help here.

b- boost water temps about 5 degrees F- to about 80-85F.

c- make sure things are clean, and the is as little stress as possible.

d- use Cod-Liver Oil Gelcaps and pop one over the turtle's eyes 1 or 2 times a day. Keep the turtle out of the water for about an hour when you do this. Turtle Eye Drops work, but not as well.

e- if things get worse, or if things do not improve in about a week, see a vet or turtle expert. Try http://www.turtleforum.com for some great experts.

I would take it to the vet for possibly an injection. The foods on the market are GREAT for turtles, but this baby is sick and needs to see a doctor!!
